Together with local partners, the Grand Snail Tour initiates artistic formats of exchange, participation and co-production in public areas in the region. Over the course of three years, it will travel through all 53 cities in the Ruhr region. The project addresses important questions of social coexistence in an experimental and innovative way: Who owns public space and how can we create places for communal activities or activate existing spaces? What role does art play in this? How can art come to the people instead of just waiting patiently for them? The Grand Snail Tour aims to leave a variety of impressions, offer shared experiences and invite people to join the journey.
